SUMMARY:Panel “Digital Twins and Quantum Intelligence in NextG Networks: Rethinking the Foundations of Network Architecture and Control” – IEEE ICC 2026 – Young Professionals Program
DESCRIPTION:As part of the IEEE ICC 2026 Young Professionals (YP) and Mentoring Program, this panel brings together some of the most influential voices in telecommunications to discuss a fundamental shift in network philosophy. Organized by ComSoc’s Women in Communications Engineering (WICE) and YP Committees, the session focuses on how the foundations of network architecture must evolve to support the massive connectivity and sustainability goals of the NextG era.\nThe discussion, titled “Digital Twins and Quantum Intelligence in NextG Networks: Rethinking the Foundations of Network Architecture and Control,” addresses two burgeoning computational paradigms:\n\nDigital Twin Frameworks: Serving as system-level control abstractions that enable real-time visibility, predictive optimization, and closed-loop orchestration across complex 6G infrastructures.\nQuantum Intelligence: Leveraging quantum computing and quantum-inspired optimization to solve large-scale, high-dimensional communication problems that traditional methods currently struggle to address.\n\nThe panel is designed to provide technical depth and forward-looking perspectives for early-career researchers and young professionals who are actively shaping the future of intelligent and sustainable network systems.\nKey areas of exploration include:\n\nEnergy-aware network orchestration and scalable optimization frameworks.\nResilience in intelligent infrastructures through real-time synchronization.\nRealistic integration pathways between quantum computation and operational communication systems.\n\none6G Participation\none6G is proud to highlight the involvement of Dr. Lina Mohjazi, an Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow and an active contributor to the one6G Association. Dr. Mohjazi is an internationally recognized expert in 6G wireless technologies and AI-driven autonomous networks. Her work within one6G and her leadership roles—including her involvement with IEEE 6G standardization and the Royal Academy of Engineering—exemplify the association’s mission to bridge academic excellence with global industry standards. During this panel, Dr. Mohjazi will represent the perspective of a new generation of leaders driving the technical consensus for 6G, illustrating how one6G members are at the forefront of integrating Digital Twins and sustainable communication into the 6G ecosystem.\nTo learn more about the Young Professionals Programme at ICC, visit the official event page.\n
