one6G leaders outline the future of wireless infrastructure at Network X 2026 in Vienna

At this year’s Network X 2026, held from October 13–15 at VIECON in Vienna, several one6G leaders took the stage at the Future Networks Stage to share their vision for next-generation mobile connectivity.
On Wednesday, October 14, one6G President Professor Mohammad Shikh-Bahaei, one6G Vice Chair Riccardo Trivisonno, and Working Group 3 (WG3) Chair Dr. Albena Mihovska convened for a high-impact panel session titled “Beyond 5G: One6G’s Vision for 6G Technologies and Transformative Use Cases.”
Key Highlights from the Session
-
Keynote Research Address: Professor Mohammad Shikh-Bahaei (King’s College London and President of one6G) opened the session with a targeted research address exploring “Where Will 6G Have the Greatest Impact?”, setting the tone for how advanced network architectures will shape industry and society.
-
Roadmap & Association Panel: Following the keynote, Professor Shikh-Bahaei was joined by Riccardo Trivisonno (VP of Association Board at Huawei & Vice Chair of one6G) and Dr. Albena Mihovska (CTO at SmartAvatar B.V. & one6G WG3 Chair), along with Itsuma Tanaka (CEO of DOCOMO Euro-Labs).
-
Strategic Focus Areas: The panel engaged in a deep dive into 6G roadmaps, regional regulatory strategies, and the convergence of 5G and 6G technologies. Speakers addressed how evolving standardization frameworks and network architectures must adapt to power future global connectivity.
Transforming How We Live and Work
The panel highlighted that the promise of 6G extends far beyond higher data rates. Discussion points underscored transformative use cases ranging from autonomous mobility and e-health to secure distributed cloud systems and global spectrum harmonization.
As highlighted during the session, 6G represents a fundamental shift: it is ultimately about enabling a seamless technological ecosystem through the harmonious convergence of complex, competing requirements across global networks.
