The First one6G Hackathon Challenge Advances Location-Aware in Next Generationi Networks
The First one6G Hackathon Challenge Inspires Creativity and Advances Location-Aware in Next Generationi Networks
The first one6G Hackathon Challenge, held from March 28 to July 31, 2025, successfully brought together innovators, engineers, and researchers from across the one6G community to explore groundbreaking solutions for the networks of the future.
Innovation Focus: Location Awareness
This year’s theme centered on location awareness—a critical enabler for applications such as autonomous driving, asset tracking, robotics, and public safety. Teams tackled projects aimed at:
-
Location-aware radio resource optimization
-
Integrated sensing and communication
-
Intelligent surfaces to enhance network performance
The hackathon pushed participants to design novel localization algorithms capable of meeting the stringent 3GPP Positioning Service Level (PSL) standards, processing richer positional data from wireless signals.
A one6G Members Competition
The event was open to all one6G members, welcoming both individuals and teams. Participants ranged from seasoned industry experts to enthusiastic newcomers, many of whom teamed up with colleagues and partners, fostering collaboration across different technical backgrounds.
Prizes and Recognition
The winning team have earned an exclusive invitation to the one6G Summit 2025 in Bologna, Italy, with travel and accommodation fully covered for the team leader. The winners will present their work durng the second day of the Summit.
Evaluation
Projects were evaluated by a committee from one6G Working Group 4, based on:
-
Innovation – originality of the idea
-
Technical Implementation – soundness and execution
-
Usability & Impact – real-world applicability and effectiveness
All code and deliverables remained the intellectual property of the participants, ensuring they could retain ownership and continue developing their ideas.
