one6G and NGMN Alliance-endorsed VTC’24 Fall workshop on AI for 6G
On October 7, 2024, Dr. Simone Mangiante, from Vodafone, Dr. Philipp Schulz, from TU Dresden, and Dr. Riccardo Trivisonno from Huawei, hosted the “Artificial Intelligence for 6G” workshop at the 2024 IEEE 100th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC’24-fall) taking place in in Washington DC, USA. This one6G and NGMN Alliance-endorsed workshop featured top quality industrial and academic keynotes and scientific paper presentations, shedding light on the expected role of AI in next-generation networks and standards.
The full day workshop covered the role of AI in 6G, looking into aspects, such as sustainability, reliability, and trustworthiness of the networks. Four outstanding keynotes by Dr. Zhu PeiYing (Huawei, Canada), Prof. Ahmed Alkhateeb (Arizona State University, USA), Prof. Byonghyo Shim (Seoul National University, South Korea), and Dr. Meryem Simsek (Nokia Bell Labs, USA) enriched the event. The speakers’ interventions touched upon multiple key aspects of AI and 6G, like the roles and applications of AI/ML, physical layer, access network problems, the task-oriented communication paradigm, the redefinition of system architecture upon AGI, and intelligent agent concepts toward fully automated 6G systems.
