one6G at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2022

On June 8, 2022, the one6G Association organized a Special Session at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2022 gathering over 30 participants. The session titled “AI for 6G and Verticals” was chaired by the association’s chairwoman, Nancy Alonistioti and featured presentations delivered by academic researchers and industry experts.

About the session

AI is one of the key enabling technologies for 6G and verticals are essential usage scenarios that will not only utilize but also impact 6G. However, they usually tend to be discussed independently as “6G & AI” or “6G & verticals”. The one6G special session organized at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2022 brought these three concepts under the same umbrella to discuss the following points:

  • position of AI in the mobile communication system design and its potential to serve vertical use cases
  • key research challenges
  • possibilities for verticals to adopt the new technology trends

The hybrid session featured presentations delivered by several academic researchers and industry experts, such as Eduard Jorswieck (TU Braunschweig), Jan Sonnenberg (Volkswagen), Yansha Deng (King’s Colleague London), Christoph Thuemmler (Leipzig Park Klinikum), and Balaji Raghothaman (Keysight). In addition, a White Paper titled “6G technology overview” covering the key enabling technologies that constitute the pillars of the evolution towards 6G was released during the session.

About the EuCNC & 6G Summit

The EuCNC & 6G Summit 2022 builds on putting together two successful conferences in the area of telecommunications: the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC), supported by the European Commission and the 6G Summit, which originated from the Finnish 6G Flagship program. The conference is sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society and the European Association for Signal Processing. The event focuses on all aspects of telecommunications, ranging from 5G deployment and mobile IoT to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, including experimentation and testbeds as well as applications and services. The 2022 edition was held in Grenoble, France in a hybrid mode with the possibility of both in-person and remote attendance.
