one6G invited to speak at the 35th 5G-ACIA Plenary Meeting in Frankfurt

Albena Mihovska, Chair of one6G Working Group 3 and Chief Technology Officer at SmartAvatar, was invited to participate in the 35th Plenary Meeting of the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA), held as an in-person event in Frankfurt, Germany.

As an invited speaker, Albena Mihovska delivered a talk titled “Bridging Today’s 5G Excellence with Tomorrow’s 6G Vision”, offering insights into how current 5G advancements can pave the way for the upcoming 6G era. In her presentation, she also talked the one6G Association, its vision, and its ongoing efforts to drive research, innovation, and collaboration in the global 6G ecosystem.

The 35th 5G-ACIA Plenary Meeting gathered experts and stakeholders from across the industrial connectivity landscape to discuss the progress of ongoing work and define next steps. Discussions covered key focus areas such as use cases and requirements, spectrum and operator models, architecture and technology, liaisons and dissemination, and validation and tests. The 5G-ACIA Plenaries are typically open only to its members, with participation by external experts permitted by invitation. Albena Mihovska was invited to provide the perspective from the 6G research community, helping to foster dialogue between ongoing initiatives and forward-looking developments.

This exchange of ideas is part of a growing collaboration between one6G and 5G-ACIA, aimed at strengthening the alignment between industrial connectivity efforts and emerging 6G research. Building on this momentum, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations is expected to be signed in early December, marking a significant step toward deeper cooperation in shaping the future of industrial wireless communication.
