IEEE Communications Society’s Second Workshop on Emerging 6G Technologies at Middlesex University

On November 22, 2024, the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) hosted the second edition of the Emerging 6G Technologies workshop at Middlesex University, London, UK. The event brought together prominent researchers, industry leaders, and early-career professionals to delve into the latest advancements and future directions of 6G technologies.

The workshop opened with a warm welcome from the chair, Prof. Aryan Kaushik (Manchester Metropolitan University), who set the stage for a day of compelling discussions and knowledge-sharing. The agenda featured a diverse lineup of keynote talks by renowned experts, including:

The day also featured a thought-provoking panel session, Emerging 6G Technologies: Industry and Academic Perspective, moderated by Prof. Aryan Kaushik. Panelists included experts like Prof. George Alexandropoulos (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), Dr. Paul Harris (VIAVI Solutions), Prof. Periklis Chatzimisios (International Hellenic University, Greece), Prof. Muhammad Zeeshan Shakir (University of the West of Scotland, UK), Prof. Syed Ali Raza Zaidi (University of Leeds, UK), Dr. Satyanarayana Vuppala (Dun and Bradstreet, Ireland), and Prof. Lina Mohjazi (University of Glasgow), who shared insights on bridging academic research with industrial applications.

A highlight of the workshop was the Poster Prize Competition, which showcased innovative research by students and early-career researchers. The winners were:

  • Nuhu Frank Chiduo (MSc student),
  • Mahnoor Yaqoob (PhD student),
  • Amjad Alam (PhD student),

all from Middlesex University.

The second edition of the workshop was successfully built on the foundations laid by the first. The event was organized with the support of the one6G Association, Manchester Metropolitan University, Paris-Saclay University, King’s College London, and Middlesex University.
