euRobotics launches the Connected Robotics Topic Group and organizes kick-off webinar

euRobotics, the voice of the European robotics community, announced the formation and launch of its new Connected Robotics Topic Group. This interdisciplinary group is dedicated to bridging the technological gap between next-generation communications and advanced robotics, ensuring European industry is prepared for the 6G-enabled era of autonomy.

The new Topic Group directly addresses the 6G Imperative: the fundamental challenge of achieving Hyper-Reliable Low-Latency Communication necessary for true sub-millisecond deterministic control in complex robotic operations. Current 5G and Wi-Fi standards cannot reliably meet the stringent safety and precision demands of future multi-robot fleets, remote surgery, or high-speed industrial automation.

Five Pillars of the Future Network-Robot Architecture
The TG will focus its strategic research on five core architectural pillars, which will form the foundation of its upcoming white paper:

  • Network-as-a-Sensor: Leveraging 6G's Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) for high-accuracy localization and environmental awareness.
  • AI-Native Architecture: Enabling Edge AI and Federated Learning to offload complex reasoning and ensure real-time intelligence for individual and swarm robots.
  • Real-Time Digital Twins: Establishing high-fidelity synchronization between physical robots and their digital counterparts for predictive control and safety validation.
  • Fleet Management & Multi-Robot Ops: Developing centralized/decentralized control systems for managing vast, heterogeneous fleets efficiently.
  • Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS): Integrating the physical and digital components of robotic systems for holistic management and predictive reliability.

Kick-off Webinar and Call for Experts
The Topic Group will launch its activities and present its vision during a public kick-off webinar. Experts and stakeholders across the full value chain are invited to attend.

  • Date: Thursday, October 16, 2025
  • Time: 15:00 – 16:30 UK Time (16:00 – 17:30 CEST)
  • Registration: https://www.robotics-portal.eu/node/233/all-enrollments

The Topic Group is actively seeking contributions from experts in industrial robotics, telecommunications, edge computing, and standardization to define and shape the future of European autonomous systems strategic roadmap for 2030 and beyond.
