one6G at IEEE Global Communications Conference with a panel on 6G and Multimodal communications
The one6G Association is proud to endorse a panel discussion at the upcoming IEEE Global Communications Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, running from December 4–8, 2023. The panel titled “Intelligent communications multimodal services in 6G: requirements, architectural impact and challenges”, set to take place on Tuesday, December 5, is a unique opportunity for experts, industry leaders, researchers, and advisors to share insights, exchange ideas, and contribute to shaping the future of multimodal communication and the Tactile Internet (TI).
In the post-pandemic era, the demand for remote operation, particularly in healthcare and automation systems, has propelled the development of the Tactile Internet. The TI enables multimodal communication and perception, integrating sight, voice, haptic, and emotion, to deliver high-quality visual experiences, low latency, and real-time tactile and control interactions over wireless networks. Achieving these capabilities requires the seamless integration of sensing, communication, and actuation/control.
Moderated by Periklis Chatzimisios of the International Hellenic University, Greece, and the University of New Mexico, USA, the panel has an impressive lineup of experts:
- Ana Garcia Armada, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain
- Frank Fitzek, TU Dresden, Germany
- Nima Afraz, University College Dublin, Ireland
- RangaRao Venkatesha Prasad, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Netherlands
The panellists will delve into the intricacies of TI and its implications for various industries, discussing the advancements and standards such as IEEE 1918.1 that are driving this technology forward. They will explore how multimodal communication services, including haptic feedback, are enriching interactions in different industry scenarios, particularly in industrial remote operations.
This panel is a unique opportunity for experts, industry leaders, researchers, and advisors to share insights, exchange ideas, and contribute to shaping the future of multimodal communication and the Tactile Internet. It underscores the one6G Association’s commitment to driving innovation and defining future strategies in next-generation communications.
