one6G and 5GAA Strengthen Collaboration Towards 6G-Enabled Connected Mobility
The one6G Association and the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish a framework for closer collaboration on next-generation wireless technologies and their application to connected and automated mobility.
The LoI, signed in December 2025, reflects a shared ambition to advance research, innovation, and standardisation activities that will shape the evolution from 5G to 6G-enabled mobility ecosystems. Both organisations aim to align their expertise across telecommunications, automotive, and digital technologies to address societal and industrial needs for safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transportation systems.
Joint focus on key 6G technology domains
one6G and 5GAA intend to cooperate in a number of strategic technology areas that are expected to be central to future 6G systems and services. These include:
- Digital twins and metaverse technologies
- Distributed and federated artificial intelligence
- Integrated sensing and communication
- Non-terrestrial networks
- 6G-empowered robotics
- Cooperative, connected and automated mobility
- Agentic AI-based mobile communication systems
By fostering dialogue and technical exchange in these domains, the two associations aim to accelerate innovation while supporting global research and standardisation efforts related to advanced wireless communications and connected mobility.
The LoI establishes a framework for collaboration, including the exchange of technical information and best practices, participation in each other’s industry events and congresses, and mutual invitations to relevant working item meetings where appropriate.
By aligning their visions and activities, one6G and 5GAA aim to contribute to the development of robust, interoperable, and future-proof communication technologies, supporting the transition towards 6G and its role in connected, cooperative, and automated mobility.
